Adnan Jummah Masjid is at "Manel Pokuna Housig Scheme"in a densely Muslim populated area named Brandiyawatte, a predominantly Muslim neighborhood in Wellampitiya, which is a suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The immediate housing scheme comprises around 105 houses, with the broader area home to over 450 households.
Al Haj Azad Adnan generously donated a 6-perch plot of land for the construction of a Jumma Masjid within our housing scheme, recognizing the need for a nearby place of worship. The nearest Masjid is approximately 1.5 km away for some residents, making it difficult, especially during Ramadan and the summer months, for many to walk such a distance.
The project was initiated by Haji M.M.M. Wazeer and Haji Laffir in April 2016. To formally begin the work, a meeting was held on 12th May 2016, presided over by Moulavi Al Haj Hassan Fareed (Bin Noori), during which responsibilities were assigned to commence the project. The meeting was attended by several members of the local jama’ath, including...

A temporary structure was erected, and daily obligatory prayers commenced on Friday, 23rd September 2016.
A Qur’an Madrasa was also established at the same premises, where children aged 4 to 15 years are taught the recitation of the Noble Qur’an.
Subsequently, a neighboring plot of land measuring 2 perches was generously donated by another well-wisher, increasing the total land area to 8 perches. This expansion enabled the Masjid to accommodate a larger number of worshippers.
In April 2017, the Masjid was officially recognized and registered as a Jummah Masjid by the Department of Muslim Cultural Affairs, under registration reference No: R/2426/C/232 — Alhamdulillah.
Following several unsuccessful attempts to secure a donor for full construction, an organization eventually stepped forward and agreed to provide financial assistance to build a portion of the ground floor.

Qur'an Madrasa
The Adnan Jummah Masjid Qur'an Madrasa, which was initiated in October 2016, continues to operate in the newly constructed building — Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah. Qur’an classes are now offered free of charge to the children of Adnan Mahalla, reflecting our commitment to accessible Islamic education. Currently, around 50 children are enrolled in the Qur'an classes.
In addition, Hifz (memorization) classes are conducted for children aged 12 and above. In Sha Allah, a dedicated session exclusively for Hifz students will be introduced in the near future.
